The Hyderabad- Karnataka area is located in the North - Eastern part of Karnataka which is predominantly and traditionally agricultural area besides being one of the most socio - economically backward region. The region is blessed with highly productive medium to deep blacksoils supporting a spectrum of crop diverity. In order to improve socio economic condtions of the region, planners and Government of Karnataka have taken steps to bring large areas under irrigation by establishing two major irrigation projects Upper Krishna and Tungabhadra being one of the largest in the country. The disappearing crop diversity and adoption of monoculture have added new dimensions in agriculture making agriculture more complex and problamatic. It is necessary to address all these problems such as irrigated, dry lands and monoop culture and to provide quality education to the young generation of this region besides to train the farmers etc., the college of Agri was established at Bheemarayanagudi during 2001-2002. |
