Our College
The College of Agriculture, Bheemarayanagudi established in 2001 under erstwhile UAS Dharwad has the potential to achieve a distinguished status. Presently under UAS Raichur, it promises to be one of the potential agricultural colleges catering to the needs of Hyderabad-Karnataka region which is rice and pulse bowl of the state and country. Two major irrigation projects (Tungabadra and Upper Krishna) are located in this region with problems associated with irrigation agriculture. The region is also one of the most socio-economically underdeveloped regions of the state.

Agriculture has been the cradle of all civilizations wherever it is practiced with skill and knowledge has been a boon and have flourished. The converse have resulted in the demise of civilizations. The contemporary agriculture has been dynamic and is complex with many issues associated. The skills of management in the modern agriculture are the more demanding and challenging now than ever before. This is particularly due to fast increasing in the population and diminishing resources.

The Hyderabad- Karnataka area is located in the North - Eastern part of Karnataka which is predominantly and traditionally agricultural area besides being one of the most socio - economically backward region. The region is blessed with highly productive medium to deep blacksoils supporting a spectrum of crop diverity.

In order to improve socio economic condtions of the region, planners and Government of Karnataka have taken steps to bring large areas under irrigation by establishing two major irrigation projects Upper Krishna and Tungabhadra being one of the largest in the country.

The disappearing crop diversity and adoption of monoculture have added new dimensions in agriculture making agriculture more complex and problamatic. It is necessary to address all these problems such as irrigated, dry lands and monoop culture and to provide quality education to the young generation of this region besides to train the farmers etc., the college of Agri was established at Bheemarayanagudi during 2001-2002.
